Car maintenance has never been my forte! Consequently,
I have always tried to choose vehicles with reputations
for reliability and durability. Japanese engineering has
regularly topped these polls as machines designed to last
and so I find myself selecting models where the emphasis
has been reliability over styling...................not
unlike myself I hear some people say!
Wouldn't it be good if we could combine both style and
reliability. This has always been a major compromise in
the dog breeding world and remains one of the main reasons
why car mechanics and veterinary surgeons remain in business..........design
faults!
Hazel's owners are making every effort to ensure that,
as far as possible, they are not compromising durability
over good looks! Having Hazel's hips and elbows examined
and scored by an expert panel of judges will improve the
chances that subsequent puppies should be designed to last!
In the same manner that Japanese quality control ensures
that defective cars are removed from the production lines,
a large number of canine health schemes exist to help avoid
the propagation of poorly designed puppies. Sadly the uptake
of these schemes is very low ensuring the recognition and
treatment of these "design faults" for many years
to come!
